ABOUT THE ATELIER SCHOOL
Founded in Birmingham, Alabama, by couture designer Mykola Vyshyvanyuk, The Atelier School is a specialized educational program dedicated to teaching the art and discipline of haute couture. The school functions as both a creative laboratory and a professional training environment, where students receive direct mentorship from an international master designer with more than three decades of experience in European and American fashion.
The Atelier School was established under NiEl Bridal Atelier LLC to create a bridge between classical European craftsmanship and modern American design. Its curriculum provides in-depth instruction in pattern development, draping, hand finishing, corsetry, and fabric engineering—skills rarely taught in contemporary fashion programs. Beyond technical mastery, the school emphasizes creative vision, professional ethics, and cultural appreciation in every lesson. Students are encouraged to develop original concepts while learning to maintain the precision and quality standards of couture design. In partnership with the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and other community institutions, The Atelier School offers hands-on workshops and mentorship opportunities for young aspiring designers. Each program culminates in a presentation of student projects, where participants showcase their sketches, prototypes, and completed garments under Mr. Vyshyvanyuk’s guidance. Through its unique focus on artistry, mentorship, and innovation, The Atelier School is helping to establish Birmingham as a growing center for couture design education in the Southeastern United States. It stands as a testament to Mykola Vyshyvanyuk’s mission—to inspire, to educate, and to elevate the standards of contemporary fashion through craftsmanship of the highest order.
