THE ATELIER SCHOOL — MISSION STATEMENT

Mission Statement:

The Atelier School was founded by Mykola Vyshyvanyuk, an internationally trained couture designer, to preserve and advance the traditions of European haute couture craftsmanship within the American fashion industry. Our mission is to educate and inspire the next generation of designers through hands- on professional instruction, emphasizing artistry, technical mastery, and creative integrity. At The Atelier School, students learn the essential foundations of couture design — from pattern-making, draping, and corsetry to hand embroidery, fabric selection, and finishing techniques. Each course reflects the philosophy that true design excellence is achieved through patience, precision, and respect for material and form. We believe that couture is more than fashion — it is a language of beauty, discipline, and innovation. The Atelier School seeks to cultivate this philosophy in every student, preparing them to contribute original ideas to the global design community. Through partnerships with local institutions such as the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA), The Atelier School also serves as a bridge between artistic education and professional practice, offering mentorship and guidance to young talents exploring careers in design.

Our core values are:

 Artistry: Honoring the creative process and the heritage of couture craftsmanship.

 Precision: Teaching technical mastery and professional discipline.

 Innovation: Encouraging experimentation and modern interpretation of timeless

techniques.

 Community: Building connections among designers, artisans, and students who

share a passion for excellence in fashion.

Vision:

To establish Birmingham, Alabama, as a new center for couture innovation and design education — where tradition meets creativity, and where each student’s potential is shaped into professional excellence under the guidance of a true master of the craft.
